Cool Finds

Rocketry has been a part of my life for over 30 years.  I started flying Estes rockets back in 1975 and my favorite rocket in the early days was the Estes Aerobee 300 on Estes "B" and "C" engines.  A Tootsie-Roll® was always the payload and each flight ended with a race with my brothers to recover the rocket.  Whoever got there first was the one who got to eat the high speed Tootsie-Roll®.  Rockets were always the subject of choice for science class projects and book reports during my early years in school.  As I entered high school, sports, motorcycles, cars and girls starting taking up the time I used to put into rockets.  I ended up taking a 20 year break from flying rockets but I can say that I never lost interest in rockets during my time away from the hobby.  My return to active flying of rockets was actually initiated by my wife.  I received an Estes starter kit from her for Christmas 1998.  I don't think she knew what she started!  I built the Skywinder that came with the starter kit and then built an Estes SR-71 and flew them many, many times.  I starting searching the web and found The Launch Pad and started building Mid-Power scale military rockets.  Aerotech "F" and "G" motors were so cool!  I went to the Aerotech site one day and saw H thru N motors listed and I was hooked.  I made the leap into High-Power.  As they say, there rest is history.  I am now certified Level 3 with Tripoli and NAR

I will be continuously posting updates my fleet of rockets grows.  Stop back often to see what is happening at Virginia Rocketry.  I hope that you enjoy your visit!
