The
LOC Magnum was my first 54mm kit. As soon as I got
the kit from Magnum
Rockets I started making some modifications. The
first thing that I did was to add a
PML KWIK Switch
2000 motor mount kit. The mother tube for the kit is
54mm and 27" long allowing the use of the longer Dr. Rocket
54/2560 motor casing and Aerotech K700 reload. The fins
and airframe are reinforced with two layers of fiberglass and
were vacuum bagged to ensure a strong bond. The Magnum
motor mount is designed for clustered flights. The motor
mount is set up to have a central 54mm mount and two 29mm
motor mounts for cluster or air start flights.
This project was severely damaged at the
2001 Battle Park launch. The nose cone, recovery
components and electronics were salvaged and used in my
Forte' Test bed project.
