Forte

I built my 5.38" upscale Forte' using LOC tubing and parts taken from my LOC Magnum.  My LOC Magnum had a hard landing at BattlePark 2001 which resulted in significant damage.  Instead of repairing the Magnum I decided to use the nosecone, recovery system and electronics in a new project.  The 5.38" Forte is that project.  I built this rocket to test my blacksky Advanced Recovery Release Device (ARRD).

The Forte' is capable of flying on 38, 54 and 75mm motors.  Rocksim says that an Aerotech M1315 will push the Forte' to 12,000 feet at nearly 1400 feet per second.

The first flight of the Forte' was on an Aerotech J-350.  The Forte' flew to 777 feet.  The ARRD did not release and the Forte' landed hard with some damage.

The second flight was on an Aerotech J-415.  The picture to the left is the liftoff shot for that flight.  The Forte' flew to 1832 feet and had a fully successful recovery.

The third flight was on an Animal Motor Works 75mm K600.  the Forte' flew to 4000 feet and had a fully successful recovery.

The fourth flight was a test of the Defy Gravity Tether© recovery device.  The Forte' flew to 1650 feet on an Aerotech J-415.  Dual deployment worked perfectly using the Tether and a fully successful recovery was made.  Two Tether units will be used on the two-stage RIM-67 M to L flight during the Fall 2004 flying season
